How can help your musical composition, the programs for writing music?

Since composers began to use writing to record their works, writing systems began to evolve, to become the complex system of symbols we use today, where the composers can use existing symbols for the effects to be write, even if they doesn’t exist, they can invent the symbols, or replace it with any drawing that composer wants to create.

Well, if you think about that, the writing also allowed to understand different phenomenon referred to the music, that maybe otherwise, could never have been observed for anyone. They began to analyze the musical forms, the the relations between the notes, the relation between text and music, and many others things, that over the time, going to create a very specific musical knowledge.

In the early 80's, personal computers began to be massive, and its use spread across the world. The original idea was to make life easier for people, then, the engineers invented computer programs that were able to respond to these needs. The music-oriented programs, included basic tools to emule all musical procedures before invented, and allow you to create musical pieces with very little effort, using these tools for develop the music and composing music with the help of a machine. The trouble with all this, is that the machine is not a human, isn't think, isn't feel and isn't have the capacity to take desicions for itself, for this reason, all the procedures will be generate the same or similar music.

In conclusion, the write music programs can help you in the same way that writing music, for understand the musical procedures, but by themselves can not help you in creating music.

Petrucci Music Library

Hi partners, I going describe to you, the International music score library project, my favorite page to work in the web.

The link is : http://www.imslp.org/wiki/

This web was created for the purpose of made accessible for everyone, a music library to provide music scores free of charge to any people with internet access, and is a compilation of many scores and books, sorted by year, composer, year of composition, instruments of the piece, styles and many other things, as can you see.
Recently, the page added recordings of different pieces sorted by performer name and composer name. Maybe you question yourself, how to solve the problem of copyright?. Well, that is a big problem, but the page was created according to the Canadian copyright laws, that allows the publication of information (scores, recordings, etc), if the author or in this case, the composer, died at least 200 years or more, ago. For this reason, the page can work today.
The authors of the page, invite to all the people that want, to participate in the project contributing with material (free of copyright), and I believe that is cool, because the page grows day by day, and is a very good source of information to find the scores for make your work.

That is a.. that is a... that is all, partners! Greetings!

Personal commentary

Now, I will write a short commentary about one selected topic.

How did we lose, the real South American music?

When Colon arrived to america, he found many different people, with many different cultures and realigions too, sometimes stranger for the foreign people. This was so, because the practices of the natives were very bloody and the European people, saw them as diabolical. For this reason, the European invasor was deleting all the american cultural practices, and replaced them, with their own practices.

In this process, some arts have survived and others have not. In general, the difference was marked by different factors, the most important, was the material support that enabled to preserve fragments of those arts. For example, in the case of the sculpture is easy preserve pieces of arts, in paint too, but in the music, is very difficult if  you don´t have any system for write or record sounds, then, all the original South American sounds, the original native South American music, was erased.

What you think about that?

Discussion :

I will propose three topics related with my profession :

  • Music and media.

  • How can help your musical composition, the programs for writing music?

  • How did we lose, the real South American music?
